How is the Unidata U30 different from using my phone hotspot?

The U30 is a dedicated mobile hotspot device, so you can keep your phone free (and not drain its battery) while connecting multiple devices through one personal Wi-Fi.

Is Unidata secure to use in cafés, airports, and hotels?

Yes—because you’re using your own private Wi-Fi hotspot instead of joining shared public networks.

Can I use my own SIM card?

Unidata is built around CloudSIM and a catalog of data plans, so you don’t need to swap physical SIM cards to get connected the usual way travelers do.

What if I run out of data?

You can easily top up your data through our portal at any point. Whether you're on a trip or at the library, you can activate it immediately.

Are there any contracts?

Absolutely not! We keep your hands free. When you purchase a data plan, you can activate it whenever you need and you get exactly what you pay for. Each data plan is valid for the specified amount of time.

How do I track my usage?

You can track your usage in two ways. One way is through the device, it has its own touch screen in which you can see how much data has been used. You can also view all your usage in our portal on oneunidata.com

Can I use this to replace my office WiFi?

Unless you are planning on using it as a personal device, then no. We don't recommend any businesses to use this act as a central WiFi router to power everybody. That requires much more power usage.

Will this work everywhere in Japan or the United States?

Coverage depends on local networks. Most customers get strong service in cities and populated areas, while rural or remote regions may have weaker signal.
